The Opportunity

The Accounting Manager Singapore is  responsible for the overall Accounting end to end & Reporting results, Driving Processes and Transactions, Audit, Tax, Treasury and Statutory compliances  specific to the Singapore Hub and its branches.

The main focus of this role initially will be to enable the Singapore  business including its branches to be set-up as a stand-alone business .After this initial phase the Accounting Manager will be responsible for Control and Compliance of Financial Reporting for Singapore . This will be achieved by management of the shared service provider along with strong oversight and management of local taxation and compliance.

The Responsibilities

  • Managing end to end corporate finance functions including financial accounting, tax, treasury, accounts payable, payroll and AR
  • Manage accounting processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results each month
  • Ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and internal controls framework
  • Month end/Year end responsibilities – Timely, accurate , compliant closing
  • Maintaining General Ledger and bank reconciliations; Fixed Assets Register; Capitalization
  • Consolidations Accounting, Budget, forecast and cash flow preparation
  • Adhering to FX policies
  • Responsible for Credit Control and Management
  • Maintaining compliance with all direct and indirect tax requirements for the Singapore regional office
  • Responsible for Accounts Payable, including vendor management , ensuring all payments are made within agreed terms
  • Payroll : Liaison with 3rd party service provider ensuring all pay-runs are completed accurately and on time and accounted
  • Supervision and Monitoring of Transaction Accounting through third party service provider
  • Enforcing accounting regulations, recommending new procedures thereby continually identifying process improvements
  • Managing the annual audit process and preparation of the statutory accounts including year-end adjustments
  • Audit and Compliance: Ensure processes, operations, systems, are up to date and comply with proper accounting and legal principles/policies/procedures, including Local  GAAP, Company WWP (worldwide procedures), SOX and others
  • Assist with transition and set up of operations during the transition phase to ensure successful transfer and set up of activities related to the Finance and Accounting functions
  • Assist in other setup activities as required
  • Manage Accounting services for multi country Branches rolling into the Singapore Hub
  • Associate with external stakeholders viz Regulators, Professional service agencies, Auditors, Tax experts etc as and when needed
  • Active participation in the identification of opportunities for continuous process improvement including standardization and simplification /system enhancements so the team can operate in an efficient and cost effective manner;  ; Transition management experience will be a plus
  • Systems – familiarity with ERP systems and ensuring controls , checks, segregation of duties. Prior experience of having worked on implementation of ERP system particularly related to FICO will be an added advantage
  • People Management
  • Set Performance Objectives and evaluate performance of direct reports
  • Counsel direct reports on performance improvement
  • Retain and motivate staff so that the workforce functions effectively, efficiently and safely
  • Coach and train direct reports to improve skills and knowledge required to perform his/her job effectively

The Individual

  • Strong finance background
  • Qualified : CA/CPA/ACCA
  • 7-9 years of post  qualification experience, preferably from an audit background and experience  across all key responsibilities
  • Exposure to Local GAAP, US GAAPP , IFRS will be preferred
  • Exceptional technical accounting skills including standards and direct/indirect taxation
  • Treasury , FX and Tax experience 
  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently
