The Opportunity

As the company continues to grow, we are seeking a Marketing Manager for our Clinical Laboratory (Clinical Chemistry and Immunoassay) business within Canada. The primary objective of the Marketing Manager is to successfully meet or exceed established revenue and profit targets. The Marketing Manager will lead the development and execution of the annual Business Plan for the Clinical Laboratory business unit.

 

The Responsibilities

  • Drives and champions all aspects of managed product lines
  • Responsible for the annual planning of revenue, unit sales, financial targets and market transparency (i.e. AOP) and regular review of achievement against market, revenue, unit sales and financial targets (i.e. QOR). Presents final outcome to Business Fields for alignment.
  • Utilizes 3rd party market data analysis to measure against and to drive business objectives
  • Forecasts instruments, reagents and service
  • Develops and implements product line strategies to achieve portfolio sales and profit targets.
  • Launches new (and sunsets old) instruments and assays
  • Develops sales force tools and programs to drive key marketing initiatives which may include key messaging and branding, pricing models, testimonials, proven outcomes and other tools.
  • Sets, maintains and updates product line pricing lists on a regular basis
  • First line of approval in deal escalations
  • Utilizes innovative and creative ways to increase revenues
  • Maintain product and market knowledge to ensure successful strategies and supporting tactics
  • Responsible for all A&P expenditures (conferences, VIP visits and sponsorships)
  • Works to identify new markets and growth opportunities beyond traditional Clin Lab markets – (eg. alternate channels and distributors)
  • Provides direction to, motivates and works closely with the sales team and support functions on a consistent basis.
  • Is the key contact on all matters pertaining to their portfolio (including forecasting, escalations, etc.) and must work with sales, commercial operations and other departments to ensure all strategic imperatives are met for responsible product lines
  • Collaborates closely with US and Business Fields counterparts to ensure a standardized approach to the business where possible
  • Drives sales training requirements and meetings, in collaboration with sales leadership
  • Develops and maintains business relationships with key opinion leaders in the market and monitors industry developments and follows market changes via market research, customer calls and analysis of competitive information.
  • Identifies and engages current and future Key Opinion Leaders to include in R&D and new product development opportunities
  • Participates in and has a leadership role in customer VIPs and presentations (customer interactions, presentations and instrument demonstrations)
  • Lead presence and responsibility for tradeshows, congresses and customer events

The Individual

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or similar degree is required; Medical Technology degree is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a commercial or technical role in the Medical Diagnostics industry is required (ideally in vitro diagnostics).
  • 2 or more years of marketing experience in the diagnostics industry is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of business and strategic marketing.
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter with strong organizational skills. This team player must be flexible, enthusiastic and possess an energetic personality. The ability to balance a process-driven approach while generating innovative ideas is imperative.
  • Financial acumen and understanding of finance concepts is important.
  • Strong background in a customer focused environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to deal with complex business issues.
  • Effective time management and conflict resolution skills since the job requirements encompass interaction with a large number of inside and outside customers.
  • Highly competent in computer applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, presentation skills and negotiating skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English is required.
  • Written and spoken French would be an asset.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% in the Canada and the US.
