    The Opportunity

    As the company continues to grow, we are seeking a Technical/Laboratory Specialist, to be responsible for providing technical and sales support to customers for Ortho Clinical Diagnostics products within an assigned geographic territory. This support is primarily through crossover of new equipment, training, adding new assays and troubleshooting, as well as supporting the sales process within their District. The Technical Laboratory Specialist will be able to perform preventive maintenance on V250 and V350 instruments plus minor repair on Ortho Vision instruments (CRU).


    As part of the Laboratory Specialist team, you will be responsible for ensuring that Ortho System Verification studies and training for new equipment are completed. You will also initiate and implement assay additions. Upon completion of the Ortho crossover, data is presented to the customer and the new system leading to TOR (Test of Record) in a timely manner. You will conduct follow up with customers, and provides continued support/training post implementation by consulting with the customer and local account team in order to ensure optimum utilization of Ortho products and systems.


    You will work with internal resources and the customer, to resolve technical issues in a prompt and timely manner. This includes escalating complaints received from the customer to the appropriate Customer Support Center, providing all required data and activities and following the Ortho Complaint Handling Procedures.

    The Responsibilities

    • Perform System Verification utilizing proprietary software (and other applicable tools) including calibrations, precision, accuracy, and patient correlation in a timely manner, leading to TOR (Test of Record).
    • Demonstrate knowledge of System verification programs and deliver Data Presentation to the customer.
    • Accurately complete all paper-work associated with scheduled PMs on V250 and V350 instrument.
    • Prepare repair estimates as required and obtain customer approval prior to proceeding with repairs.
    • Provide training and technical support for new customers, and continue support and training for current customers depending on LS availability.
    • Troubleshoot assays, systems, and protocols within the customer laboratory.
    • Help customers maximize menu utilization on their instruments.
    • Assists Account Managers with customer presentations and trade shows as required.
    • Assists customers with additional studies and reagent management as territory demands permit.

    The Individual

    • Medical Laboratory Technology degree/certification is required.
    • Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical laboratory or related experience is required.

    • VITROS product knowledge is strongly preferred.

    • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities while providing stellar customer service is required.

    • Position requires heavy travel (up to 50%), some international (USA) which may include hotel stays and air travel.
    • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
